HELP the cause AND MAKE A DONATION TODAY

Mission

Our mission behind the creation of the Help Save a Limb organization is simple: Spread the word throughout the world that limb and joint preservation is a viable treatment versus amputation. This site exists for the sole purpose of aiding families in need of answers when faced with the difficult news of a limb deformity diagnosis, specifically Fibular Hemimelia. Every year children around the world are born with congenital limb deformities. While little is known as to what causes the abnormalities, the fact remains that a large number of these children are either misdiagnosed or prescribed treatment options that fall short of limb or joint preservation.

Many good-intentioned and well-respected orthopedic surgeons are unaware of the advancements in limb and joint preservation and defer to the long practiced standard of care: amputation. While this treatment may serve as the best option for those diagnosed with extreme limb deformities, the opportunity to save a limb does indeed exist. Through proper consultation with orthopedic specialists from both sides of the spectrum, patients can make informed decisions on what is a life-altering matter thus providing every child the opportunity to save a limb.

This site is not intended to provide any medical advice nor infer specific diagnosis; its sole purpose is to share our story and the path that led us to choose joint and limb preservation for our daughter.  As with any medical matter, always consult a licensed physician.
